it doesn’t too much look like it here, but on one promo for V, Anna was a dead ringer for The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon, whose character does have a twin sister. but she doesn’t look a thing like this.

There’s a period newly into a relationship where the couple is smack-dab in Lovey-Doveyville, when sharing food is adorable. Eating off each others plate is not frowned upon, but encouraged!

Cut to a point in the undetermined future. It becomes Survival Of The Fittest. If the male asks for a bite, after the dirty look the female obscures 95% of the sandwich, so that the male has to squint and contort his mouth sideways to get a nibble. If the female asks for a bite, the male acquiesces, only to see the female disengage her jaw from its hinges and devour most of the offering.

The above example is if the meal is desirable. If not, the female goes, “ugh! this is NASTY…you want the rest?”

Like I said, just a random sampling…

What happened next was unexpected. I noticed a fellow who was glancing in my direction a few times then I saw his date – my ex-wife, star of previous posts. They came over and spoke*.  A cordial yet surreal experience.

As for the show, Cat’s Cradle is set up for intimate standing-room-only crowds, and we had a great spot to observe from, about 3 ft from the stage on the right side.
I went down there in the mindset of, “this is a perfect date night,” but the photographer in me said “since I’m going to see FE, it would be nice to get a shot or two of them”.
Trying to find that balance between a devoted date who might take a couple snaps. So I took only 3 lenses and my Sony hotshoe flash in my smaller bag.

While we were waiting, a photog squeezed by towards the middle of the room and I recognized him from Flickr and Facebook, but hadn’t met him in the flesh until that point. Sedrick Miles! He was prepared, and had 2 cameras, a diffused flash on the hotshoe and a remote flash stage right.

As far as the show went? I Loved every minute (when it finally started). They did all the songs that I loved, and Phonte would break into a “What’s Up With That” (SNL skit with Keenan Thompson) interlude several times. The band was on point. YahZarah St. James was on fire, and Darien Brockington had the ladies swaying. The second part of the set was Hip Hop with a collab between Phonte and Joe Scudda and a Little Brother reunion of sorts when Rapper Big Pooh joined ‘ Tay

Google Maps with Navigation – this app was a major deal when it came out. I’ve been doing some type of GPS w/ Handheld configurations since the Palm V. This version of Google Maps makes dedicated GPS navigation systems obsolete. Voice assisted realtime navigation, layers (satellite layer shown), and voice imput search makes this unbeatable.

Places Directory – there are a few other apps that are similar, I like this one for its simplicity. You put in the category like business, restaurant, bank, etc. and it finds the closes available locations for that category. I like that for each result is a distance and direction indicator that updates when you move.

Android Online Radio – Supports Shoutcast and Icescast streams. Just recently downloaded but have been able to listen to some local stations.

tv.com – is basically CBS’s version of HULU, with a few other online content partners like cnet. If Hulu had an app like this it would be major. NBC’s mobile site while not an app has similar online video viewing.

Shop Savvy – I use this when I’m shopping for electronics, if I’m out in Best Buy, for example,, I scan the barcode and it will tell me what the cheapest local and online prices are. Good moneysaver.

Google Listen – i am a Podcast fiend. for those of you who aren’t hip to it, podcasts are like DVR for radio. Google Listen performs admirably. Also contains a search function to let you search by topic. I found a few new Pocasts that way.

last.fm – either your a last.fm person or a Pandora person. I’ve had a last.fm account for awhile and this player does a great job. Both let you create personalized “stations” based on your favorite artists, genres or tags.

The Bible, in your pocket! – nuff said. I roll without the paper version at church. Many translations to switch to on the fly and allows for bookmarking passages.

SportsTap – Very nice image gallery to go with the scores. and it updates scores quickly, as evidenced when I used it right at the end of the Superbowl. I am not the biggest sports nut in the world.

Weather Bug – constant temp. on the notification bar, realtime weather alerts and of course, forecasts.

Handcent SMS – this SMS client lets you style your threads like a back and forth conversation and you can configure the look iPhone and Hero style.

also of honorable mention: Drocap2 for Android which i used to create most of these screen captures. (requires a rooted phone)

After a while, he took Enzo’s chew treat and challenged him to get it back. We are getting Enzo fixed this week.

Update: 2/21/10
Enzo is fixed. On his second encounter with Jake, it went better but Jake was still shellshocked, charging at him whenever Enzo got near/behind him. By the second day the seemed to become pretty good playmates. Enzo is a lot calmer now, as a result of being fixed.

Last year my coworker let me borrow his copy of Beyond the Cosmos: What Recent Discoveries in Astrophysics Reveal About the Glory and Love of God by Hugh Ross, a Christian astronomer and astrophysicist, it breaks down a lot of quantum dynamics for the layperson and illustrates how many biblical incidents, contradictions and paradoxes can be explained. It was heavy reading but very engrossing. I’m still working on it.

Having been intrigued in the subject matter, another book book is I picked up was Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey Through Parallel Universes, Time Warps, and the 10th Dimension by Michio Kaku. I’ve seen him on Discovery. His book touches on a lot of similar themes from a purely scientific level.

A few of the concepts that fascinated me from reading:
* Time is the 4th dimension
* Time did not exist before the big bang (in our universe)
* There exists multiple universes/timelines potentially one for every choice that you make
* God exists outside of these dimensions so he sees all possible outcomes outside of all timelines, therefore providing for both Free Will AND Predestination (my conclusion from Ross’s book)

what trips me out is that while that’s all mindboggling and “out there”, some of my favorite shows have picked up some of these theories for plotlines.
The Big Bang Theory and FlashForward both mention Schrödinger’s Cat thought experiment which I wouldn’t have known about previously w/o reading these books. This experiment supposes both states exist until observed.

This final season of Lost seems to suggest it as well, that 2 states based on an atomic event can exist simultaneously. It’s a lot for our 3-Dimensional minds to try to handle (like trying explain the concept of “depth” to a 2-dimensional Flatlander – also referenced in The Big Bang Theory)

The plot of FlashForward itself seems based on Quantum Mechanics, where apparently some scientists visit an alternate reality in an experiment which causes everyone else on the planet to black out for a couple of minutes while seeing six months into their possible “future.”

This is the tip of the Iceberg on these topics, and I’ve ranted enough. This week I discovered Hugh Ross’ podcast and it is much food for thought. I will keep you posted on any breakthroughs!
